Selected engagements — the shape of the work.
A cross-section of real engagements across mining, oil & gas, manufacturing, litigation, and estate matters — described by scope and outcome. Client names are withheld under USPAP client-confidentiality standards; the work is real.
Ten below — roughly 1% of the 900+ engagements we've completed. The other 99% are under NDA.
~$2B in equipment · 60+ locations · U.S. & Mexico
A large manufacturer in receivership had pledged equipment as collateral to multiple lenders across more than sixty locations. The engagement uncovered assets double-pledged across competing lender collateral packages and delivered forensic, defensible values on what the equipment was actually worth — the number the workout turned on.
$250M in equipment · 5 sites · WY, KY, IN, WV
An above-ground coal operation needed a defensible appraisal to refinance its equipment across five sites in four states — delivered in two weeks. The work validated field upgrades and maintenance the books had never captured, surfaced duplicate asset numbers in the existing records, and established a value higher than the CFO's book number, because the iron was worth more than the schedule showed.
80+ locations · TX & OK · receivership
Engaged by a receiver to value a cross-section of a multi-state restaurant chain — and then to defend it in court. Of roughly two dozen opposing attorneys, only about four raised questions; the rest passed with none. The report held.
$17M · 17 dealerships · 6 brands · CA & NV
A high-value divorce hinged on the worth of a seventeen-dealership group spanning two states and six brands. The opposing valuation, prepared by an auctioneer, effectively marked the assets near forced-liquidation levels; our appraisal established Fair Market Value — reflecting live, operating dealerships rather than equipment on the auction block. The distinction moved the number materially.
$50M in equipment · 3 states · WY, ND, SD
A fractional CFO needed a true asset list and defensible values ahead of a sale, spanning three states. We built the operation its first accurate equipment list from the ground up and set market values that satisfied seller due diligence.
$5M · 2 mines · Appalachia
A lender needed its collateral position validated on two underground mines in the Appalachians. We spent a week underground verifying the equipment in place and delivered the defensible collateral values the lender required.
$15M in equipment · lender-ordered
A bank sent us in to validate collateral before lending against it. The work revealed a depreciation schedule full of items that were either missing entirely or described too vaguely to defend — so we built a true, itemized equipment list and current values both the owner and the bank could rely on.
Houston, TX · preparation for sale
A specialty small-batch chemical plant preparing for sale needed market values that would hold up with a buyer. We valued the operation at market and documented the plant's operational viability as part of the appraisal.
~$6M · 2 counties · Indiana
An estate settlement between two families turned on the value of a large farming operation spanning two counties. We delivered a conservative, defensible middle-ground valuation both families accepted to settle.
$4M · Appalachia · insurance collateral
A defunct rare-earth processing system, no longer in operation, needed a collateral valuation for an insurer. We established defensible resale-market values on highly custom equipment that had no obvious comparables.
Every engagement is scoped individually and delivered under USPAP by a Master Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser. Fair Market, Orderly Liquidation, and Forced Liquidation values are Nathan's human determination — signed, and built to hold up when challenged.
Every one of these started with one conversation.
Tell us about your operation and we'll scope the work — asset count, locations, the number you need to defend, and your timeline.
